Chapter 268 – Romance in Prince Jin’s Manor (4)

At this moment, both were sharply opposing each other, with neither prepared to give an inch. They were both fiercely glaring at each other, neither was willing to be outdone.

“Who else?” Nangong Liuyun’s phoenix eyes were half-narrowed dangerously. His eyes had a kind of chilliness that would stop a person’s heart from beating. A pair of bloodthirsty pupils firmly stared at Su Luo, like a berserk beast.

Su Luo’s heart was a little lacking in confidence, but her face hardly showed any weakness. She bravely retorted back: “Why would it concern you? Is it something you can control?”

This sentence was as if she had suddenly poked at a hornet’s nest!

Nangong Liuyun’s eyes were like a sharp blade curved from a millennium old block of ice, ruthlessly launched at Su Luo. His furious thoughts grew without restraint, stressing each word, he said: “You, say that again one more time.”

Su Luo had a little guilty conscience, but having arrived at this juncture, whoever showed weakness would stand on the losing side. Therefore, Su Luo bravely lifted up her chin, she unblinkingly returned his glare with a glare: “My affairs have nothing to do with you. Before it was unrelated to you, now it’s unrelated to you, and in the future, it will be even more unrelated to you!”

Nangong Liuyun’s darkening face was about to explode like a tempest at any moment, and his eyes flashed with a bloodthirsty frost.

Now, the moon in the sky was hidden among a thick layer of clouds. All of a sudden, a flash of lightning streaked past. Following close behind, the rumbling of thunder started to sound in the silence of the night.

The weather at this moment suddenly changed.

A gale-like wind bellowed and heavy torrential rain poured down.

Lightning flashed and thunder rumbled, the sky that was clear suddenly become cloudy, shining upon the side of Nangong Liuyun’s matchless handsome face. It made him look even more malicious and sinister. He looked so cruel that people wouldn’t dare to look straight at him.

Suddenly, his lanky and jade-like fingers grabbed and pinched Su Luo’s throat!

A kind of panic-stricken feeling of having her breathing cut off started to spread through Su Luo’s heart.

However, Su Luo did not beg for forgiveness. She merely tried to break open his hand through sheer obstinacy, using all her strength.

However, the level disparity was that obvious, the contrast in strength could be seen at a glance. How could the second ranked Su Luo be the seventh ranked Nangong Liuyun’s opponent?

Still even more so, the Nangong Liuyun right now had sunk straight into a rash, ruthless state of mind. He was even more unwilling to back off and let go.

No matter how hard Su Luo tried, she could not pry apart his hand. On the contrary, because of Su Luo’s stubborn resistance, Nangong Liuyun’s strong and powerful five fingers were like an iron hook, the more she struggled, the tighter it became!

It got so tight that it could almost cut off Su Luo’s neck.

Her throat continued to ache as if it was burning, she couldn’t breathe in fresh air and her entire face swelled, turning red. She painfully gasped for breath but could not inhale even a thread of air. It was completely cut off by Nangong Liuyun’s pair of large hands.

Her consciousness become more and more fuzzy…Su Luo felt that her entire body was light as a feather, floating to and fro as if her soul was about to fly away.

Just when Su Luo’s vision became fuzzy, a thick shadow leaned over and bent down. With an unparalleled gesture, he strongly and overbearingly occupied her red lips. A mouthful of fresh air, like strands of silk, slid into her suffocated lungs.

The delirious Su Luo clutched at the final straw that could save her life, why would she be willing to let go?

He strongly, wantonly moved around in her mouth. She indifferently replenished the air essential for her survival from his mouth.

She allowed him to come and go freely, no matter what, she could not oppose him.

The two of them hugged tightly close together, each taking what he or she needed.

It was only after a long, long time, did that pair of large, lanky hands tightly pinching at her throat finally start to shift away. Only, his expression was still as bloodthirsty as before. It was merciless and icy cold to the bone.

“Luo Luo, be obedient from now on, you mustn’t be this naughty again.” Nangong Liuyun slowly caressed Su Luo’s red, swelling lips that had been sucked on. The corner of his mouth, little by little, hooked into a devilishly charming and alluring smile. However, that smile never reached his eyes, his eyes were as ice-cold as before, so inhumane.

This man….was simply too terrible.

  1. Just another reader says:

Woah…….that’s scary Nangong Liuyun…??. But luoluo, u brought it upon urself. No one is called a demon/bloodthirsty/asura for no reason. Poor luo luo, i hope you learn to become much, much stronger. Fight-o!

    Thanks for the chapter!

  2. peach says:

Where’s the dragon? Dragon to the rescue please.
So many Chinese have these overbearing male leads who tries to manipulate the females they supposedly love. What affection and love? It’s just sexual harassment from the male lead while the female leads struggles with accepting their “love.”

Thanks though to the translators for their hard work.

  3. Argos Yesu says:

Aye. I was reading ahead and saw the abuse. While reading this good TL, I was wondering if maybe the MTL was just bad or something since there wasn’t any abuse…

    Nangong is dangerous…

  4. Proggerino says:

What the heck just happened here? The guy is simply very possessive. It’s not healthy for anyone. In a real relationship the guy will most certainly kill her if something were to happen. This is not romantic at all.
Although she’s rough with her words she still has a right to be so bc they are not in a relationship.
    Anyways thanks for the chapter.

  5. Allstarall says:

Many things would be easier for her if she increased her strength.

    • voydom says:

Yeah, for the love of god, she needs to train more. It’s like 50 chapters of boyfriend stuff, 1 chapter of training 🙂

    • Starvenus says:

      I know, right?
      She fools around too much.
She knows she’s weak, but didn’t train frequent enough.
Nangong went yandare, that was scary…

      Thank you for the chapter.

  6. VLS says:

She should just run. Run very far away. Bad family, murderous Jade Lake Fairy, and abusive stalker prince. Whats there to stay for? I would take those new servants of hers and leave quietly for another kingdom.

  7. Ok says:

Did the cross the line or just kissed?

  8. Liedral says:

Romance eh…. well….. he is a demon king so it is understandable.

  9. sayume says:

I wonder why I’m still reading this? Well, I like it when Su Luo is witty, and when she struggles to survive and triumphs, like at the forest, and I super love Meng Meng. The romance? Not what I’d call romance to begin with.

I used to think it doesn’t make sense that she’s attracted to him for his abilities and looks alone when he’s such a horrible and possessive guy who has no apparent redeeming qualities besides his good looks. But then I remembered the guy who killed the previous her was a jerk too, so I suppose that’s her type. Doesn’t mean I like it.

I started disliking the male lead since he used his own life to threaten her, and my opinion of him is going further downhill every arc; I almost wish he would become Meng Meng’s lunch.

The author better have Nangong Liuyun redeem himself in the future. And I’m hoping she doesn’t attempt doing so by making us feel pity for him as she discloses the tragic past event in his life that made him dislike being touched by others except Luo, but by making him actually apologize to her eventually, realizing he was not right to act this way.

Also, people who compare this to DOP say the romance is better here, but I disagree. I will give my two cents on that matter:

    1) It’s true that Su Luo is not as absurdly ‘perfect’ as Li Yue, and her character is better fleshed out in the narrative. It’s also true Nangong Liuyun has a more defined personality than Xuan Yuan Che. That doesn’t mean they are more likeable though. Xuan Yuan Che at least has more going for him other than looks and power; he’s not feared as a tyrant like Nangong Liuyun, but RESPECTED by his subordinates as a leader.

    2) Speaking of respect, I like that the DOP couple respects each other.

It’s true that DOP has them fall in love quickly without dragging it out one bit, but in the times it does elaborate on their interaction, you see respect, which is required for genuine love. Che’s possessiveness is still within reason, such as getting agitated when he found out she’s a good kisser (“Who taught you this?!”) or forbidding her to wear red in her fraud of a wedding. He doesn’t hurt her when being intimate with her, and he definitely doesn’t harass her or annoy her to get her angry, like a little boy would. He also trusts her love in him. DOP doesn’t go deep into how they got together, but it does show how they ARE together already, which is not bad; if further expanded on, it might even prove refreshing.

Nangong Liuyun… He obviously mentally unstable, if his abusive and obsessive actions and almost-suicide are anything to go by. He is clinging to her as if trying to get something from it, like a drug addict who needs his fix and will kill if necessary for it. It’s obsession, not true love, at least in some people’s book. Not to mention, DKC ALSO made him fall for her instantly and even be willing to touch her, miraculously pushing aside his supposed issue with contact despite not having known her for long or even be justified by receiving deep and moving affection from HER part. The road to them establishing a relationship, which is what is commonly shown in stories, is still in need of much work from the author’s part, I dare judge.

    ….

I suppose I needed to say something at last after holding it in, saying nothing for 268 chapters. Ah.

    • smeilia says:

Finally someone who has the guts to say no to abusive relationship. I thought I’m the only one who feel this way. Really the author need to stop portraying abusive attitude as romantic, because it’s not. Not to mention it will send the bad message to the reader.

    • June says:

I feel your pain…. Personally I skim through the first 4888 chapters before translating this so I guess I forgot how demonic Nangong Liuyun can be before he worked it out with Su Luo. The lack of details helps DOP because we the reader can fill in the blanks. DKC’s romance problem is that it took them too long to get together so we get to suffer through the worst possible and most unbalanced relationship ever!!! But I will say this gets better: Nangong Liuyun will change from an evil frog to a prince….just took a long time 🙁

      • Sabru says:

        first, thanks for translating.

secondly, i just hope this clear and unneeded psychopathic possessive yandere behavior gets fixed sometime reasonably soon in the story. Because i completely agree with sayume.

If it’ll still be a while, then i guess i’ll shelve this until it eventually gets to the point where he changes. 😐

        • June says:

Nangong Liuyun will always act possessive… but less abuse of her as their relationship misunderstanding clears… The next few arcs are all about fighting.

    • Anonymous says:

People also have to consider that DOP is different from DKC in the sense that unlike DOP where the so called “inner energy” the cultivation and martial arts path in DKC actually matters

    • your mother says:

jajajjajajaja Alot of girls here ,like the bad guy ….who do all this shiit, but i know u need something unreal ,like a perfect boy that dont do a shiit lol .I. ,girls like the bad boy ,everyone dosnt need to be perfect in a novel lol…

    • alaneo says:

Love is also about being possessive, you can see it in DOP too.
Like the moment were LY/XYC is in danger and the other become totally crazy because of it.

Or when LY would have prefered to see XYC die and her next instead of having to share him with other women…
She would kill him if she ever found him with another woman.
      So it’s also being possessive

  10. Midori says:

    thanks a lot!
h-he…he—-! nangong liuyun! you yandere! ah—-!
well, it’s close to the part i’m waiting for!

  11. Jaelaun says:

NGL, if I were Su Luo, all I would be thinking at this point is: “I need to get stronger so this bastard won’t be able to kill and/or rape me.”

  12. Id says:

I really hope he changes and that Su Lou doesn’t fall in love with him as he is now. That would be absurd and a let down if it happened.

  13. DarkPriest says:

I know he was born royalty and consider everyone as below him but damn, to purposely do that to the woman you love… the feelings of hate and jealousy he felt for the first time in his life… in other stories the male would usually find an outlet for their rage but not him, its clear he sees su lou as a fun plaything and not an equal partner.

  14. Gee says:

Sigh.. Im liking nangong lesser and lesser as the story goes on. He definitely doesnt respect su luo, at all. If i were su luo, i would run far far away from him without even turning back once. Too bad she is still too weak right now to even hv her own freedom. Anyway, that’s what i did to my ex-bf who clearly doesnt respect me as a person. One day i just took an airplane without telling him and stop contacting him at all. I’d like to think we are over now eventhough there s no official breakup lol

    • June says:

Good for you. I just cut off all contact with my emotionally unstable ex! I didn’t realize how bad he is until I came back to translate this…(after flying though 4888 chapters). So I forgot all the bad things he did to Su Luo and only remember all the sacrifice and how devoted he was to SU Luo 🙁 Wish I could just not translate and skip these chapters.

  15. The Professor says:

To all the people yankinng on the MC’s chain.
I admit he went too far this time. Someone mentioned that the author better improve his image, but that’s a given.
By looking at his character and way of doings things it clearly shows that he himself at one point was abused and/ or underwent a traumatic experience (The author will probably reveal it in time).
And most of the complainers will probably feel sorry for him and feel guilty about thrashing him in the comments of this chapter.

p.s. this is just my p.o.v. and iḿ only adding my two cents by pointing it out

    • June says:

I agree and the author will do exactly what you said 😉 Way to foretell the future 🙂

    • Ida says:

If you’re talking about my comment, it is clear as day for me that he will change. The question is when in their relationship that will happen. What I meant was that Su Luo better not like him BEFORE he changes. I’d hate to see her fall in love with him the way he is now. Pitying him is fine; falling in love, no thanks.

  16. Shanzu says:

Thanks for the chapter! 🙂 waiting for the jealous prince to go cool off somewhere XD

  17. Burnnnn says:

Honestly. I get where the bastard is coming from.
    Hear me out.
Liuyun can’t do a normal relationship. He has been put on a pedestal his entire life and told he is better than everyone. So his way of seeing the world is warped. Luo appears and she is like something he hasn’t experienced before. Which makes him “love” her at 1st sight. His love is just an insane possessiveness wanting to find somebody who can relate to him in any way. Of course – not killing everyone around you would solve that as well but feudal royalty never seem to look past themselves.
Su Luo is honestly a great character in that she is a bit broken because of her being betrayed but is still human. Luo only attacks those who slight her after all.
So NGL shouldn’t be seen as an immaculate prince but rather a sad broken boy who doesn’t understand how to form a mutual bond on any level other than fear.

I hated this chapter personally. It could have gone worse but seeing a child break out in fear of losing a toy and then wanting to angrily break it so nobody has it kind of was just depressing.

  18. silly says:

Nangong Liuyun!! I hope one day he shall see Mt. Tai and realize his transgressions. Then he will slap himself three times and kowtow to his master-wife.

Ah, even in that situation he would still be shamelessly taking advantage!

  19. Mangochic says:

He is a abusive and mentally unstable. Su Luo needs to get away, train and get stronger in order to get out of this unequal relationship.

  20. niax says:

Why doesnt he just rape her already and we can move on?

  21. Mem says:

    Yandere. He’s totally scarily yandere.

  22. Rinna says:

Pull through!! Only about 4620 chapters to go through!
    Urrrgh, that didn’t help.

    Thanks flour the chapters!

  23. reiika says:

    Thanks for the chapter =)

  24. AMK says:

Well, the title of the book is “The DEMON KING chases his wife…”, so this is kind of what I’d expect.

It hurts seeing Su Luo being mistreated like this, but demons tend to be cruel, yeah? And demon kings even more so! xD

  25. chronos5884 says:

    Thanks for the chapter.

  26. Crowclown says:

Still a better love story than Twilight.

  27. Korathan Skala says:

Mmmm…this is a very unhealthy relationship with high dose of non-con/dub-con…not my cup of tea. Anyway, great translation!! Thanks for the hard work~~~

  28. Kittyflare says:

    TSUNDERE! MY FAV KIND
