Different in that the MC isn’t stupid/naive (not trying to offend anyone, I love bakarina in her own way) and there isn’t a harem.
Also it’s a little darker…I like this one more.
I’m not really complaining, but this seems just like any other novel out there where the MC is sent to a world reflecting an otome game. In other words, generic. Don’t get me wrong, I like them, but something a bit more original would be fun. I understand these are more targeted towards women, because the MC is almost always a girl, but since I, A guy, also likes reading these type of novels I want a MC who is a guy that is put into a Otome game world. Sure, I can go read from a harem genre, I like the setting of these stories. The one novel with the same Otome game world setting I found that perfectly suited my tastes, with a male MC to boot, was Villainous Brother Reincarnation and that wasn’t TLed past chapter 6. I miss that one. I wonder why it was dropped. Was it just a teaser or something? Did the author die and only finish 6 chapter? Did the TLer just lose interest? I seriously want to know, but it’s fine.. although this one doesn’t seem like it will be too outstanding, it is interesting enough to read. And as I said, I’m not complaining. Who knows, it may surprise me.
I actually asked this a few weeks ago. imperfectluck was translating that one, but he stopped because the author hasn’t updated it since.. 2 months ago I think.

So… a gender bender? Let me get this straight. You want a guy to be reincarnated into an Otome game? So there are only 2 ways this would happen. He would either become another prospective male suitor, or gender-bent to become a female main character or potential rival.
Either way, you would be getting a male harem, or reverse harem.
Which I am fine with, since I’ve seen the generic female harem over and over again, with the same comedy and plot a million times over. Which is why I avoid harems unless the story is compelling enough (it usually isn’t, since the annoying harem comedy is usually so annoying that I can no longer enjoy the series).
Yay for a shounen ai plot!

On that note, why is it that all stories in this genre say that the MC is the side FIANCEE of the capture target. I mean (since having not played any I’m curious) are all otome games ones where the main girl steals a guy who is already engaged?
And also what’s with the bad ending killing off the side FIANCEE after all its supposed to be the heroines bad ending right? Why are our MC’s the ones that die? Makes me wonder what happens to the heroine in the bad ending if this is what happens to the rival.
I can’t say for the untranslated games, but most of what I’ve seen, there is rarely any otome games in the market (translated) where you steal the fiance of the villain character… maybe this is a popular trope in japanese otome games?
But given if you have such a setting for a game(where the heroine is bullied too drastically by the guy’s fiancee) especially those targetting mature audiences, the villain’a deaths would be a likely outcome…
