    Link isn’t working.
BTW, you know that that petition most likely is not going to work, right?
A petition without a “feasible” alternative that gives equal or greater productivity has a minuscule chance of succeeding.

working now…. it’s Ninja’s pet project and since most of the money Ninja gets from DKC is going to charity…maybe things will change with just a little signature 🙂

      • Owl says:

It’s not the signatures or number, as hunny said, it’s the lack of a proposed viable alternative. And more than that, it’s also the “support” of a ethnic faction.

Read closer, they are not asking for a stop work on a dam. They’re asking for land ownership. And without checking, how can we even be sure that the people asking for “help” from Greenpeace were the original inhabitants in the first place?

We need to check our “causes” to make sure we don’t get used by others. In this case, I suspect a background land grab is happening behind the scenes.

Remember. They are not asking for no dam. They are asking for “give us the land”. Which is a strange approach for an anti-dam group.

i see you don’t know much about greenpeace. a petition, for greenpeace, is the first step. and then, they will go to the companies. and so on…if the government insists, they, (and for this issue, me)will literally go to the place where they want to build the dam, and stay there to protest. it’ll be peaceful, of course, unless the government wants to react violently to greenpeace and enrage people all over the world. i’ve also gotten the support of the singapore government, though they are still carrying out assessments.

    I signed it!
    1,007,572 signatures so far!

  3. Owl says:

I did some checking. There was a no work order on the dam in April. The dam isn’t an issue at all, the proposal was stopped 3 months ago, this is about the land.

And Seimens isn’t the constructor, it’s just selling the turbines for the dam, the ones doing the construction (supposedly since all work was stopped) is Electrobras.

    • June says:

The goal of the petition was to target the suppliers… no supplies no dam build… But hey I’m just an observer since I can’t sign anything political now 🙁
