Chapter 39 – Be careful when the little beast explodes

It turned out to be Purging Crotons (1)!!

Chu Qing-Yan was so annoyed that her chest was heaving up and down.

Xi Ning walked all the way back and hadn’t dared to open the bag along the way. Now, seeing her master having such big fluctuations in mood, she couldn’t help but stretch her neck to take a look inside. After seeing the lush little green beans, she opened her eyes wide, “What did His Highness send you these Purging Crotons for? Is it possible that he saw through your plan?”

Chu Qing-Yan jumped up from her bed, “Is he now hoping that I can’t get out of bed from diarrhea, which I certainly won’t be doing! Now, I want him to tell me clearly, in the end, what he is trying to do!”

She originally thought that after she had entered the prince’s manor, he would just treat her as air and set her aside. She never imagined that he would torment her again and again!

She and he had only met a few times, they didn’t build a bridge nor did they harbor any deep hatred for the other. Why, then, must he make things difficult for her?

Bad living conditions, she couldn’t care less.

The place where she lived was far, she also couldn’t care less.

But why must he call her into his presence everyday, and torture her everyday?!

Chu Qing-Yan didn’t have the time to mind the blisters that formed on her feet from these past few days. She ran as if the wind was on her feet towards the Jade Courtyard. This unforeseen action stupefied Xi Ning, and by the time she returned to her senses, it was already too late for her to catch up to her master!

A long time afterwards, when Chu Qing-Yan thought back to all the things that happened that day, she couldn’t help but harbor suspicions. Why was it that the usually unflustered her, who thought thrice when handling matters, couldn’t hold back her temper and actually had the courage to challenge the ridiculed and rebellious ghostly prince?

In fact, it was only at that time, she had just entered the prince’s manor, a string of events caught her unprepared, and the torment on her physical body as well as the longing for her parents in her heart contributed to all the accumulated feelings, thus leading to the occurrence of this scene.

“Xiao Xu, tell me honestly, what will it take for you to let go of me?!”

Standing before Xiao Xu at this moment, eyes red from fury, flushed cheeks with even her hair almost standing straight up. Chu Qing-Yan looked like a small beast that just exploded, making people want to touch and tease her.

Xiao Xu was quite surprised when Chu Qing-Yan stormed in past the servants trying to stop her. To be honest, he was still very much looking forward to her next move after trying to endure it. Only, he had never imagined that he would so quickly piss her off.

“Didn’t you eat something bad to hurt your stomach? What, is it that once your stomach got hurt from eating something bad, it immediately cured your sprained foot?” Xiao Xu had just finished his breakfast, and so, was in a very good mood. He sized up the little beast in front of him, his tone carrying a touch of ridicule.

Xiao Xu’s words caused the bustling people at the scene to be astonished.

What surprised them wasn’t Chu Qing-Yan’s rude words, nor was it that her actions and words were different. Rather, it was their family’s Highness’s attitude!

This was the first time they saw His Highness being addressed directly by his name, being provoked and not getting angry!

It seemed that the skeleton of the last person who tried to pick a quarrel with him didn’t even exist now!

But at this moment, Chu Qing-Yan still stood before them, alive and kicking. She even had the guts to glare wide-eyed at His Highness. The servants didn’t know whether they should break out in a cold sweat for her or squeeze out some cold sweat for themselves for seeing such an abnormal Highness today!

Chu Qing-Yan heard this and was shocked. Just now, in her hurry, she had already forgotten the lies she had fabricated. But now, she had planned to shed all false pretenses. What was the use of bothering with these little things? After all, she didn’t believe that he hadn’t seen through all these matters.

Chu Qing-Yan’s brows rose straight up, she gave a ‘hmph’ and coldly said, “Your Highness, please stop beating around the bush and tell it to me straight, what will it take for you to let go of me?’

“Beating around the bush? This word choice usage is not bad. Looks like you still have a little bit of literary knowledge.” Xiao Xu picked up the teacup on the table, unhurriedly and leisurely said, using his actions to explain the meaning of these words.

“You——” Chu Qing-Yan never imagined that he would be this stubborn and mischievous. Using two steps instead of three, she walked to in front of him like a thunderbolt. To his manner of refusing to listen, she extended her hand and grabbed his collar.

She originally thought that with his martial arts skills, it wouldn’t be easy to grab a hold of him, but in reality, it was easy for her to grab his clothing.

Whereas Huang Yi and the others immediately reached out to cover their eyes. She’s finished. Ninth Miss Chu was about to strike a stone with an egg; this was the tempo of not wanting to live ah!

But when they didn’t hear the fury of His Highness nor the sound of anguished wails from Chu family’s Ninth Miss, everyone couldn’t help but shift a finger. Through the small crack, they secretly looked and saw two people, with one sitting and the other standing. One person was raging with disbelief, the other was tranquil with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile. However, this actually gave people a kind of exceptionally harmonious yet bizarre feeling.

But this wasn’t the most important issue!

Didn’t His Highness have an extreme case of mysophobia?

He would never let anyone touch even a thread of his clothes!

They remembered that once, there was a servant who committed a crime and grabbed onto the sleeves of His Highness to entreat, His Highness immediately drew his sword to cut off that section of his sleeve, along with the hands of that servant.

But what was this situation right now?!

Not only did His Highness not punish Ninth Miss Chu, he even had an indifferent and calm expression when talking to her!

Everybody froze stiffly in place, what was going on right now, could someone please explain it?!

Chu Qing-Yan was dumbfounded at first, but then, the corner of her mouth hooked up, revealing a fox-like cunningness. She lowered her voice and pressed close to him. In a neither slow nor hurried manner, she gnashed her teeth and said, “What are you really planning in your thoughts? I don’t believe that a single declining Chu Family’s girl doll would be worth your scheming. And you, as a noble prince of this grand dynasty, also doesn’t need to lower yourself to trifle with a miss that lacks the strength to truss a chicken right? Don’t you think so?”

Lacks the strength to truss a chicken?

Xiao Xu glanced at her hands that were tightly grabbing his collar. Chu Qing-Yan saw his line of sight and her hands couldn’t help but to shake, yet she still withstood the pressure and looked straight at him.

“You’re right, the declining Chu Family doesn’t really have anything that’s worth this king spending his thoughts on. And you are even more insignificant, so, not even worthy of this king lowering his nobleness!” Xiao Xu appeared to not have seen her hand, and with an attitude of minding his own business, he held the teacup while lightly brushing the top with the lid. His posture was graceful and unhurried.

Hearing these words were like listening to nonsense, Chu Qing-Yan tried to suppress the distinct veins that popped up on her temples and was finally able to restrain the idea of suddenly beating him up for a while. As she couldn’t possibly win against him in a fight, she breathed out heavily and then calmly asked, “Your Highness Prince Ying, the important matter must be said three times. What will it take for you to let go of me?”

“This king had never arrested you, what is there to speak about letting you go?” Xiao Xu once again glanced at her hand. As if to say, the person being arrested was him.

Chu Qing-Yan tried hard to hold back her anger. She closed her eyes and mouthed the words to herself: Don’t get angry, don’t get angry!

Afterwards, she opened her eyes once again to say between clenched teeth, “Then, are you saying you don’t have anything you wish to say right now?”

“I do.”

Xiao Xu’s words made Chu Qing-Yan’s eye gleam. She immediately perked up and listened carefully, “Quickly say it!”

“The way you grab my neck is a bit itchy!” Such improper words were uttered by him very seriously.

It looked as if she had gathered her strength and staked it all on one throw, but then hit a ball of cotton instead.

All her courage and energy seemed to be used up.

Chu Qing-Yan looked at the person before her, her eyes stinging in pain. Suddenly, two streaks of tears came flowing out. She released her hands and slowly squatted down. Her two hands hugged her knees as she started bawling her eyes out.

Everyone was stunned by this scene.

Including the always calm Xiao Xu.

    >_>; He’s gonna have to work hard to have a positive image after this.

I think we’re all kinda forgetting in this world, she’s still ridiculously young and although she has the soul of an older person, I doubt her body can take the stress of trying to scheme for such a long time, especially when we’re glossing over the long physical distances.

I’m quite interested to see what the Prince’s next move is because this is a lot more on him than on her 😛

  8. peanutgallery says:

  11. nadywing says:

Omg! I know that feeling of being so frustrated by anger that you want to cry!

  12. Som says:

She is physically tired, and emotionally wrought, and her body is young, yes. These may all lead to crying, sure. However, she had deemed crying her next line of defense in dealing with Xiao Xu. He had not had her killed, nor had he been particularly angry around her, so it is safe to assume he wouldn’t kill her for crying – and it might net her some benefit.

  13. Emy Garay says:

So, here I’m at my work desk trying not to laugh lol
