Chapter 191 – Spraying out a mouthful of blood
Chu Qing-Yan was carried on the fat guy’s shoulder, so she was feeling somewhat disoriented. The stuff in her stomach couldn’t stop rolling and she was about to throw up.
She suddenly gave muffled cries, the fat guy felt her struggle and immediately said angrily. “What?”
Chu Qing-Yan’s mouth was blocked, so she could only give muffled cries.
The fat guy became impatient and pulled out the strip of cloth stuffed in her mouth.
When it was pulled out, it seemed to directly fly out for one thousand meters.
Fat guy looked at his body covered in filth and flew into a rage out of humiliation. He was just about to throw her down when he saw Chu Qing-Yan calmly use the rain water to wipe her mouth. She narrowed her eyes to look at him. “If you dare to throw me, I guarantee that you guys won’t need to cross the river and could directly cross the River of Forgetfulness (1)!”
When the fat guy heard this, he laughed coldly. “You really think I won’t dare to throw you?”
Chu Qing-Yan raised her chin, displaying an expression of “he must listen her who was boss”.
And just at this moment, the shrewd woman glared at the fat guy. “At this critical juncture, don’t toss out something for me to deal with. This person is our protective talisman, hold on to him properly. If he falls, there’ll be more than enough bitterness for you to eat!”
Being threatened by the shrewd woman, the fat guy became a lot more well-behaved. But the gaze he used to look at Chu Qing-Yan was still very fierce and full of furious intent.
In the far distance, they saw a wooden pole, on top hung an enormous horizontal cloth. The gale had wrecked havoc, the horizontal cloth was blown until it started to float. On top was written the words- ferry crossing.
Shrewd woman’s group of three were very happy, and they accelerated their footsteps.
As long as they arrived at the ferry crossing and got on a boat, then everything would be safe.
Chu Qing-Yan’s heart sank, she let them take her to the ferry crossing that was getting closer and closer.
The rain didn’t become lighter, on the contrary it became heavier, as if it was about to drown the entire world.
Chu Qing-Yan felt the rainwater hitting her face like beans smashing down. It hurt a bit and added to the fact that these people pushed forward at fast speed, the pain intensified.
But now she already didn’t have the time to be concerned about it so much. She looked at the ferry crossing drawing closer, and she plotted in her heart on how to free herself.
Once they arrived at the ferry crossing, the fat guy tossed her on the ground. Fortunately, the ground was put together using wooden planks. But Chu Qing-Yan still couldn’t help but cry out softly.
The cook with the knife scars took a glance at Chu Qing-Yan who crawled up and spit. “Really couldn’t tell that such a smooth-skinned little young master brother can endure a lot of bitterness!”
“Ha, if he wailed endlessly, I would have killed him earlier!” The fat guy shook his arms that were somewhat sore.
Shrewd woman slanted a glance at the two of them. “Now is not the time to discuss things that have no meaning. There is a boat over there, we must think of a way of getting it over here.”
The three people looked in the direction the shrewd woman was pointing. One could only see that on the side of the ferry crossing was a small residence. A little boat was tied to the wooden pier at the mouth of the small residence. Moreover, there was the light from a fire coming from inside the small residence, confirming that there were people inside.
“Let’s go have a look!” The fat guy wanted to pull Chu Qing Yan up by the collar but she avoided it by turning her head to the side.
“I can walk by myself.” Chu Qing-Yan said this like a wise person who submits to the circumstances.
The fat guy coldly sneered and pushed her in the back to walk forward, urging. “Walk faster, little short legs!”
Once the words were said, the cook with knife scars and shrewd woman couldn’t help but expose a slight mocking smile towards Chu Qing-Yan.
Chu Qing-Yan frowned, she wasn’t willing to waste time debating this with them.
Very quickly, they walked over to the entrance of the little residence. The fat guy used force to slap the door. When the person inside heard this, he immediately answered. “Coming, coming!”
One could see a sixty year old boatman open the door, before he could see who was outside, a broadsword was already placed at his neck.
That old boatman was so scared that he almost closed both eyes and passed out.
The fat guy in one move pulled the old boatman out and pointed at the small boat. In a sinister tone and unpleasant manner, he said. “Quickly open that lock for I your daddy. Otherwise I your daddy will let you go to hell right now!”
The old boatman was so scared that both of his legs trembled as he repeatedly said. “Okay, okay, okay!”
Chu Qing-Yan clearly sensed these three people’s savage nature, in the end they simply won’t let this old boatman go. A trace of worry floated out from her heart.
At this moment, the old boatman dug out the key from his pocket and quivering and shaking, opened that heavy lock.
Whereas the fat guy’s broadsword was already hovering over the old boatman’s head as if as long as he opened it, what waited him would be a fatal slash from the sword.
Chu Qing-Yan bit her lips, what to do?
Because of being afraid, on top of the fact that the rain was too heavy, the old boatman tried for a long time and was unable to open the lock.
The fat guy waited until he was somewhat impatient, he took a step forward. At this moment from the corner of her eyes, Chu Qing-Yan just so happened to see a boat oar on the wooden pier. She visually estimated her own distance to it as well as the length of that boat oar, it was just right!
“Rattle, clunk——” The lock opened.
And no sooner said than done, Chu Qing-Yan took advantage of everyone not paying attention to her, picked up that boat oar and ruthlessly swung it at that fat guy’s hand.
The fat guy was unprepared, so his broadsword fell into the water at the side of his body. His entire body’s center of gravity wasn’t stable and he almost fell into the water too.
And Chu Qing-Yan had already stepped forward to pull the frightened and uncertain old boatman behind her. The oar was held horizontally in front of her chest, confronting the three of them.
“Not allowed to willfully slaughter the innocent!” Chu Qing-Yan righteously said as she glared at them.
She used up all her strength in that hit, so at this moment, the fat guy was covering his wrist and shrieking miserably, threatening to kill her. Whereas the shrewd woman and cook with knife scars both had very ugly expressions. Actually, the fact that under their eyes, their prey was able to extend her claws were simply too humiliating and shameful.
“Little ghost, you think based on your little body and that piece of wooden oar, you can withstand us three killers? I suggest it’s best you obediently put that wooden oar down, or else don’t blame us for being impolite!” Shrewd woman approached her step by step with a sinister smile at the corner of her mouth.
Really took her as a child she could fool?
Once she put down the boat oar, then what awaited the old boatman was a dead end, while she would be seized to be put into the little boat.
They pressed closer step by step, while she brought the old boatman to fall back step by step.
Until her back pressed against a wooden plank with no where to retreat to. Chu Qing-Yan frowned deeply.
Earth Spirit had taught her a set of sword moves, although she hadn’t mastered it, but she could still brandish several moves.
In order to stall for time, she had to use her boat oar to battle with them.
As a result, she stood out and used the boat oar as a longsword pointed at the three people in front of her. “I’ll go with you guys, but you guys must let this innocent old boatman go.”
“What qualification do you have to negotiate conditions with us three?” The cook with knife scars mockingly said.
“Peaceful measures before using force, since courtesy doesn’t work, then let’s just fight with weapons!” Chu Qing-Yan slowly lifted up her arm, using a firm gaze to look at them.
“Hahaha——a child whose hair hasn’t grown fully dares to challenge us, then let me do it! Little ghost, be careful of your skin!” The cook with knife scars used his own machete sinisterly and measuredly advanced forward.
Chu Qing-Yan swallowed a mouthful saliva. A person even Qing Yi couldn’t beat, she didn’t have a bit of odds to succeed. But now there was only this plan she could use.
Even if she forced herself, she still needed to go up!
The machete whistled over, her body nimbly turned and avoided the sharp blade. Her body flipped and she landed behind his back, lifted the boat oar and was about to hit toward him.
Only it seemed as if this person’s back had grown eyes, his machete extended out and blocked. Then he used force and she retreated several steps. Immediately after, his fist landed on her shoulder and she flew on to that wooden plank. She directly broke that fist thick wooden plank, then tumbled to the ground.
Chu Qing-Yan’s chest ached, a mouthful of blood sprayed out. It landed in the water and immediately dispersed like petals of red flower one after the other.
The cook with knife scars advanced and was just about stab her again when suddenly, the bursts of bell ringing sounds penetrated through the thunderstorm and arrived in everyone’s ears.
Immediately following, a voice could be heard saying. “Slow!”
1) River of forgetfulness: According to Greek mythology, the river is called Lethe, this is one of the five rivers in the underworld (or the world of the dead). I’m not familiar with Chinese underworld. But I do know people are given this water to forget their previous life before being reborn. Not sure if this is also the same river that flows under the bridge that the spirit crosses to the land of the dead in Chinese mythology. If anyone knows more, feel free to comment and let me know.
